Seeing God through the black sheep in our lives

Have you ever felt like an outsider looking in? Does “black sheep” seem to describe you?

How about this: Has God called you to care for an outsider, a black sheep?

One of the things God does is leave the ninety and nine safe in the fold to go after the one. He invites us into the task with Him. I hope today helps us see God a bit more clearly as we leave the safety of the fold to pursue the one with the Shepherd.

The Plunge:  Some of you may know what it feels like to be an outsider. And some of you know what it’s like to love an outsider. I dare say that many of you are called by God to pursue someone outside the fold. It can be frightening, exhausting, and frustrating!

And yet this very thing is what God uses to beckon us. He invites us to enter the Divine pursuit…the journey of a passionate God after a single, solitary forgotten one left on the backside of nowhere. If we want to understand the heart of God, just leave the ninety and nine safe in the fold and go after the one!

Today’s plunge is going to be a bit different.  I’d like you to identify the “one” He is calling you to love and pursue. Who is it that He wants you to go after? How does He want you to leave safety and comfort behind to pursue this one?

Now make the choice to trust that one of the big reasons why God has asked you to pursue this person is so you will know God more deeply. Ask Him what He is trying to reveal about Himself through this person. Trust Him to use this person and the pursuit of this person to prompt godly change in your own heart. Spend some time before the Lord just being quiet before Him. Take ample time to cultivate a trusting submission to the path He has you on with this “one.”

And hey! I’m praying for you! I’d love to hear from you! Leave your comments below or contact me via email. Have a great Monday, friend.
