Have you ever worn a mask? Perhaps it was for a birthday party, or maybe it was an “online mask” to appear different than you are. We’re good at hiding behind masks aren’t we? There’s such a desire to fit in that we spending time “masking the mess” if we feel out of place. This week, Liz shared about trading in those masks for God’s masterpiece.
While helping her son prepare for a party he was going to, she realized that we all spend a lot of time masking our messes, our lives. We spend time trying to become someone we’re not, or trying to portray ourselves as something we’re not. With social media, that’s such an easy thing, isn’t it? Liz asks, “Have we let the masks we wear make a mess of who we are?” Wow – that’s a question we can chew on for quite some time!
Who gets to decide our identity? The world? Social media? Liz shares a sweet truth that reminds us of who we are in Christ. When we forget the truth of who we are, we’re more likely to pick up those masks and hide behind them.
God didn’t create us to hide behind the masks we choose to take up. He created us in His image, to share His light with the world. Stop by to read Liz’s post, then choose this week to let your light shine. We don’t need to be masking the mess of who we are; we just need to remember who gets to decide our identity!
