We’ve all had our share of hard times in life. Perhaps life didn’t seem to go our way, or maybe we endured a prolonged season of stress. It can be very hard to focus on the Lord in those times, as we often would rather retreat or even run away from whatever is causing us to struggle.
This week, Debbie shared a post about a time of tremendous struggle and great loss in her life. She shared the painful truth of struggling in her present situation – something I’m sure we can all relate to. She and her husband were beginning to make plans to move because the stress of loss was simply overwhelming. Her husband asked her a tough question, though. He asked, “If your mom wasn’t sick and finances weren’t an issue, would you still want to move? Do you feel this is the right thing to do, or are you simply not content?”
Debbie shared a verse that had a deep impact on her during that time:
“I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation. I can do all things through him who gives me strength.”
The key to that verse is in the wording, “I have learned….” Debbie reminds us that Paul learned to be content. It was not something that came easily or naturally for him. It was a trait that he worked toward.
I’d encourage you to hop over to read Debbie’s heartfelt post on learning to be content in all circumstances.
