Leading Our Children in a Daily Quiet Time

When is the right time to begin a quiet time with our children? This is a question that I have heard many times over the years. There is not just one “correct” answer; each family has to decide what works best for them. I was thankful to read Rebekah’s post on her daily quiet time with kids.

Rebekah shares how she implemented a quiet time with her children when they were younger. Beyond that, though, she shared why she implemented that time with her children. I appreciate the truth in her words:

“Children need to be guided; they will not naturally “evolve” into a Bible-loving Christian–they need to be led.”

That truth led me to consider what I’m doing with my own children. Am I leading them? Am I teaching them both the how and the why of having a quiet time?

Rebekah recounts her own process of learning and growing through the quiet time that her mother set up for the children. She tells of the move from feeling like it was a “must” to growing to crave that time with the Lord.

May this be true for our children as well, Lord. May they grow to desire more of You as we lead them to You!
