How to Pray for Your Business

Hi! I’m so excited you’ve happened upon this page and are interested in praying for your business (or blog)!

Psalm 127:1 says, “Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain that build,” meaning that unless God is the Master builder of your endeavor, you’re, quite frankly, wasting your time.

When God’s favor is upon us, however, He teaches us the way to go, inspires us, and can move others’s hearts to look favorably upon us (see Proverbs 21:1).

An example of how God enabled the Israelites to generate wealth is found in Deuteronomy 8:18: “But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to you.”

One of my favorite prayers for business growth is simply praying Psalm 90:17, “Let the favor of the Lord be upon me God, and establish the work of my hands today.”

If you are looking for success in business, I don’t know a better way to invest in your business than to pray God’s word for it. If you are reading this, you probably already know that (I’m smart at making assumptions like that, ha!) so I’m SO excited you are interested in setting aside a specific time to offer prayer for business breakthrough based on God’s word.

If you

My friend and new business partner and I are stoked to be starting up a brand new biz ourselves, which is what prompted this 31 day challenge. As we met to brainstorm a few weeks ago, the unified cry of our heart was for the Lord to direct all we do.

We have bathed this adventure in prayer and seen God do abundantly above and beyond in just a few short weeks!

In fact, today (the day I’m writing this), we onboarded our very first client!

Funny story: A few minutes before our onboarding meeting with the clients today, I prayed and told God, “Lord, I need You. I can’t do this.”

He is so good. He didn’t let me get away with that.

He spoke to my heart and said, “You’re only half right. You do need Me; but for your other statement, I Corinthians 1:5-7.”

{I’ll let you go look that little blessing up for yourself because it’s a good one!}

So I quickly prayed through that passage before connecting with the client and it gave me the confidence to just jump in and go for it!

The result is we now officially have our first client at the recurring income of $800/month. Praise God!

It’s crucial that I clear up a misunderstanding about prayer. We don’t pray like God is a genie in a bottle, ready to jump to our demands when we “rub” Him the right way.

We don’t pray just to get something we want. Prayer is important for many reasons but I think mostly because it aligns our hearts with God and His will and plans. We are able to pray that His will be done and His Kingdom come on earth- in our lives, homes, and businesses- as it is in heaven.

If you

Prayer (and specifically praying Scripture) is a tool by which OUR hearts are changed, our motives are unveiled and purified, and our desires are replaced by His desires.

And when we are aligned with His heart and will in prayer,  whatever we ask, He grants.

{No, I don’t understand how that all works… and why some prayers seem to go unanswered… I just know it’s what the Bible says.}

So let me ask you… How much time do you spend praying God’s Word for your blog or business on a daily basis?

Setting aside a dedicated time to offer prayer for success in business or in our blogs is indeed time well invested, wouldn’t you agree?

There’s no way we could even calculate the return on that investment, for years out into the future and even into eternity; which is another reason why I want to take the month of May to intentionally pray for my biz. We’ll be sharing prayer points with Bible verses, and joining together to learn how to pray for business breakthrough.

  1. Hi Arabah Joy

    I am excited about this Prayer Challenge. And it is coming at a perfect time.

    You said, “You will receive a welcome sheet with everything you need to know when you register.” But I did not receive anything.

    1. Hi Serene! You should have received an email from SendOwl with a link to download the welcome sheet. If you check spam and other folders and still don’t see it, let me know and I’ll send it over :)

  2. Could this be used to those of us who need a job after being SAHM for 18 years and now need another direction or job?

    1. Hi Aracelis! This challenge would work great if you are looking to work from home, or start a side hustle. It’s not tailored for job hunting or working for a boss, although it could still be a powerful time of prayer in community as you seek His guidance. I hope that helps and may God direct your steps as you seek employment.

  3. Love this! Love the scriptures! I’ve always prayed scripture but his year I added scriptures to our goals. Really creates the idea that I’m not alone in this! Thank you for the post!
