When following God isn’t a “big adventure”

So we sometimes get this idea that following Christ is a big exciting adventure. We expect it to look a certain way and when it doesn’t, we scratch our heads and wonder what’s wrong with us.

While overall I believe following Christ is certainly an adventure… and exciting… we need to understand that it will involve hardship, suffering, and very long seasons of small, mundane, repetitious, un-exciting events. There is still glory in it.

Quote from "Trust Without Borders" by Arabah Joy

Today is day 27 in our series on trust and we’re talking about offering our lives in quarters instead of big currencies… about trusting God in those small things… when the big adventure we hoped for isn’t happening. If you are just joining us, you can find all the posts in the series on The Trust Experience home page.

 Day 27

1. The Bread: Read John 15:18-27

2. The Devo: Read Day 27 in Trust Without Borders

3. The Plunge: Sometimes the small steps of faith are harder to make than the big ones, don’t you think? Sometimes it is harder to be FULL of faith in the routine, mundane of life than if we were called upon to do something “big.”

What small thing(s) is God asking you to do in trust today? Will you believe Him for Glory in the midst of those tedious or trying things?

As always, I’d love to hear from you! I’m praying for each one doing this series and I’d love to pray for you by name. Drop me a note or leave a comment~ Happy Monday!

  1. This has been a fine series with the order of each day. Lots of room for pondering and for being quiet with God. May He bless each one who reads these.

  2. Arabah, I’ve been reading your book “Trust Without Borders” and from day one it has really spoken to me. Thank you, for sharing your heart and being transparent. Most of all, for reminding me that God is enough for me, that He can change me and use me for His glory.

      1. I am so glad I encouraged you! My words really were an understatement of all that is going on inside me! I will pray for you, your family and your ministry overseas. Yes, praise the Lord!
