Our early attempts at family devotions did not go as well as I hoped. I’d heard of other families who had great success with these times of devotion, but we really seemed to struggle. I often came away from those times feeling more frustrated than filled.
As I read the title to Shannon’s post this week, I was taken back to those early days of struggling through our times of family devotion. Her post is called Encouragement for When Your Family Devotions Look Like a Circus. If you’ve ever tried to wrangle a toddler while trying to learn from God’s Word, you’ve probably felt this way, too.
Shannon offers 4 beautiful truths for those circus-like times that family devotions can be. I was so encouraged to read these because not only do they hold true with young children, but even with older children. In fact, you will likely find some of these truths to be a blessing in your own life as you continue to work on developing your quiet time with the Lord.
Wherever you’re at in your journey to know the Lord, keep pressing on! Find encouragement from Shannon’s post, and trust that what you are doing is making a difference.
