It’s the most wonderful time of the year, but also a season of hustle and bustle. A family can quickly lose focus on the true meaning of Christmas and find themselves distracted. Vow to make this year different and to spiritually connect as a family during this special season.
We as parents have the opportunity to instill core Christian values by choosing gospel-centered activities that help kids understand the purpose behind Jesus’ birth. A Christmas Scavenger Hunt is the perfect interactive activity that promotes family fun while laying a spiritual foundation of faith!
This Christ-centered activity begins with reading the Christmas Story aloud.
Continue to guide children by discussing the relationship between Jesus’ birth and His death. Jesus was born in a lowly manger for a sole purpose: to be the ultimate sacrifice for the sins of all mankind. His perfect life and death on the cross paid the “sin debt” for all who accept His free gift of salvation. His birth was remarkable because later He became the ultimate sacrifice and that’s the reason we celebrate the Good News of Christmas!
To begin the adventure, grab a camera, Bible and the printed Christmas Scavenger Hunt.
Then, read the clues and the Scripture provided to solve each riddle and check the item off your list. For a twist, take pictures of each item you find or have children draw a picture of the answer instead.
Finally, spread the Good News of the Gospel by inviting another family to join the game and race to see who can finish first!
This simple activity is the perfect gateway to a conversation about a personal relationship with Jesus and an easy way to share your faith. Once you’re done, have the kids retell the Christmas story in their own words.
