Do you have a specific time set aside in your day when you pray for others? Often prayer is a part of our quiet time, whether that happens in the morning or later in the day. But this week, Laura shared a post about setting aside specific times each day when she would pray for someone else, as she was called to pray for their request. I really liked the idea of setting up specific times to pray for particular requests; that is a very helpful way to remember prayer requests.
However, prayer can be challenging at times. It is often easier to let go of requests for others when we don’t see God answering, rather than to continue to pray for them. Laura shares a powerful reminder, though:
My prayers for someone else aren’t just for that person, they are for me too.
Prayer keeps me close to the One whose love and power are unlimited.
Do you see that? We aren’t just offering prayers for the other person’s situation; prayer – no matter what the request – keeps us drawing close to the Lord. God doesn’t need our prayers in order to work in someone’s life. But He values the communication with us. Let’s keep that in mind as we are called to pray. Yes, we’re making a request of the Lord, but more than that, we’re spending precious time with Him!
