So this week’s topic at The Loft is, “blogs that inspire.”
I’ll be honest. I have to be very careful about what blogs I read. Most Christian blogs end up being a temptation for me to measure up to some unspoken standard and waste time trying.
Maybe it is a standard to be witty or cute.
Or well spoken.
Or creative or savvy or connected or unique or included or more or less or big or small or whatever else the blog writer convinces me of.
I’m sure much of it isn’t intentional on their part. It is me.
But because I know this is how I am… and I know blogs are one big cesspool of temptation for all sorts of spiritual maladies… I don’t regularly read many and actively avoid several.
Here are the “safe” ones for me. I go to these places when I am looking for soul food. When I need some manna or another sibling to point me to Jesus, these are my go-to blogs.
Grace Laced – Ruth writes real and un-pretentious. I appreciate the way she weaves redemption into her posts. When she writes from her life, I always connect with her core message. She’s also creative and shares her love of art on her blog. Just a lovely place to go.
Thankful Homemaker– Okay, Marci could pose as the Proverbs 31 woman! But the gentle way she shares doesn’t berate or bring out the comparison beast. What I love most about Marci is how the gospel is central to her life and blog. I can never get enough of the liberating truth of the gospel.
The Desiring God blog– About once a week I check in here for a fill up. The variety means there’s sure to be something to sharpen my focus on Christ and see life through the lens of Scripture.
How about you? Where do you go online for soul-spiration?
