“What’s for dinner? I’m starving!”
Chances are you’ve heard this many times if you’re a parent. Perhaps you even remember saying it as you were growing up! Have you ever ever said that to God, though? Have you ever been so hungry for God’s Word that you declare yourself to be starving? Last week, Kelly Baker shared a post with tips to avoid spiritual starvation.
She talks about spiritual snacking, where we basically “grab and go” in our time with the Lord.
In the long run, though, this doesn’t really meet our needs, just as snacking on food will not suffice for every meal. The truth is, God wants more of a “sit down dinner” with us, but in this fast-paced world, it can be hard to carve out time for that kind of interaction. Our schedules lead to being on the go, which leads to “grab and go” for food, interaction with others, and even our time with God. Too much running around and not enough nourishment leads to the feeling of starvation.
So how can we avoid spiritual starvation? Kelly’s tips are concise and easily applicable, if we’ll take the time to apply them. I love that we serve a God who longs for a relationship with us! Perhaps you’ve been hungry, maybe even starving lately. Take a few quiet moments today to read Kelly’s post and consider how you can avoid spiritual starvation.
