7 Easy Steps to Bible Study for Beginners

Are you looking for fresh ways to study the Bible? Or perhaps you are new to Bible study looking for Bible study for beginners tips.

If you’re wondering how to study the Bible for yourself, you’re in the right place!

Bible study is essential to our growth as believers but as you’ll see below, not all Bible study is created equal. First, it’s important to find a Bible study method that you’ll actually do, lol!

It’s also important to make Bible study your own, meaning, you shouldn’t NEED to rely on others to feed yourself spiritually. Every believer needs to know how to nourish themselves at the table of grace.

I created the PROSPER Bible Study Method to provide a simple framework for anyone to engage with God’s word in a meaningful… and fun… way. The good thing is that it can be used with any passage, enabling you to be a self-fed student of God’s word.

Deep dive into God's word with this favorite Bible study method: PROSPER!

The goal of this method is to position ourselves to receive the most benefit possible from our time in God’s word.

While God’s word never returns void, all levels of interaction on our part are not created equal.

For example:

  • Careless listening to the Scripture can result in the devil snatching the seed away or it being choked out by the cares of the world (Mark 4).
  • Through meditation, we can engage with the Bible in such a way we PROSPER (see Psalm 1:3).
  • James 1:22-25 tells us a hearer of God’s word only is deceived, but a doer of His word is “blessed in whatever he does.”

As you can see, the way we listen to, engage with, and respond to Scripture matters.

Scripture is alive, active, and powerful. It equips us for every good deed and is capable of truly transforming our lives. We want to present our hearts before the Lord and engage with the word in ways so that it falls on good soil.

And THAT’S what the PROSPER Bible Study Method is all about.  PROSPER is an acronym for my 7 step Bible Study Method and stands for:

P- Pray

R- Read

O- Observe

S- Study

P- Ponder

E- Engage

R- Repetitive Action

Each day of the study, you’ll start with the P and R (prayer and Bible reading).

Then you’ll also walk through one of the other steps, (one a day for 5 days).
