Hi friends! I’m pleased to tell you I will be starting a monthly book club here on the blog!
After starting Michele Cushatt’s book a couple weeks ago, I sensed the Lord impressing upon me to do a book club.
Typically when I sense something like this from the Lord (something not directly found in scripture) I tend to wait and see if it really is from Him. If it is Him, He’ll keep at me and confirm His leading in a variety of ways.
Over the past week He has confirmed this is something He wants me to do, so here we are!
I can’t even tell you how strongly I believe in reading great books! But you know, with the mountain upon mountain of books out there, it can be difficult to find the gems… you know, the ones that grab your heart, lead you to the throne room and keep you in a place of worship.
Or the ones that show you how to trust.
Or the ones that resurrect hope like a new dawn in a heart that’s given up.
So let’s do this. Let’s find meaningful, worthy reads and grow together, yes?
Michele’s book Undone is what we’ll read this month should you care to join in. Here’s a taste of Michele’s story and her beautiful writing voice:
“One-day-at-a-time living is difficult for me. I prefer to plot and plan, save and stock up. I gather and hoard for my unexpected tomorrows as if the Promised Land hinges on me. On me.
But in my wilderness, my stockpiles turn rotten and unfulfilling. What can a full pantry and bulging 401(k) do for the woman facing cancer?
“I will rain down bread from heaven for you.”
He whispers it to me, again and again. Provision. But provision delivered in portions. One serving at a time. One day at a time. No stockpiles or truckloads. Not enough to fill a pantry, but certainly enough to fill a plate.
“Can you trust Me?” He asks.
~ Michele Cushatt, Undone: A Story of Making Peace With An Unexpected Life
This week, grab a copy of Undone and read Chapters 1-5. Beginning next Monday, I’ll post a discussion thread on my Facebook page (each Monday) so be sure to follow me there to join in the club!
I do hope you’ll join us. This is a deep book that will nourish your soul. See you over here soon~~
