**October 20, 2015 update: Although the fundraiser for Nicolae’s surgery is over, you can view this video to meet Nicolae and his foster family. Plus, you can help them with the urgent need to purchase a home by November!
He rushed to Jesus for help.
It was a last ditch effort because help wasn’t coming from any other place.
To his relief, from Jesus he received a promise, a hope.
But then Jesus delayed.
And then it was too late.
The daughter died. The story was over. The dream, the hope, they dead-ended.
“Don’t pray anymore about it,” somebody told him. “It’s pointless.”
That’s what people say, isn’t it? When things seem impossible and hope seems senseless and there’s no point in getting excited over sheer impossibilities.
“But Jesus, on hearing what others were saying, answered, “Do not fear, only believe. Your daughter will be well.” (Luke 8:50)
There’s no naysayer who can have the final word when Jesus turns to you and gives you a promise. Not even death can put an end to the possibilities when Jesus has said “just believe.”
And contrary to popular thinking, we’re not some ridiculous fanatics who believe in silly notions and positive thinking.
We’re blood bought daughters with Audacity because we know the Authority of our Redeemer, the One who told the wind to be quiet and it did.
We’re crazy-loved and hand-picked for adoption and inheritance and citizenship and He’s laid His hand on us and told us not to be afraid.
So even when death of all sorts weighs the steps of our journey, we can still believe in the possibilities… because the hand of our Redeemer is mighty to save and His mouth has said, “YES!”
Our little family wakes up late on New Year’s Day. The kids sleep till 8, mercy! They find mama crying at the breakfast table.
“We received an email from Nicolae,” mama tells the brood. We’ve never heard from Nicolae personally, always from the caretakers.
The boy is 15 now, and he’s been waiting a long time. Waiting for a surgery to get him out of diapers.
Waiting for a hope.
When he saw the kind words, donations, and prayers from you all, he asked to send a personal note.
In his own words, he says he feels like the paralytic by the pool… just waiting hopelessly.
You have been the voice of hope, the voice of Jesus. Forget the voices of the critic, the calloused, the unbelieving.
Jesus is on the scene and we can believe.
Jackson says he’ll read the letter to the kids since I’m bawling. But then he chokes up before he even opens his mouth and pushes the computer back to me.
So I will the tears back and read the words aloud. These words are for you too, for everyone who has purchased Trust:
I was so thrilled to read all your messages and see your generous gifts in the fundraising campaign. The love I perceive behind your giving makes a world of difference for me at the receiving end. Thank you, thank you. Knowing that people and children take time to stop and learn about my brokenness in life make my soul able to fly higher than the limit imposed on me by a physical disability. It’s refreshing to begin to see things moving again in my favor after a long time of waiting kind of hopelessly like the paralytic by the pool in the bible story. My dream is to became normal among my peers and leave behind a life controlled by the fear and shame of being exposed as the guy in diapers. I wish I could thank you all personally but I pray the Lord who knows even the anonymous givers will reward you according to the riches of his grace.
“Craciun fericit!” or Merry Christmas! from Romania.
The boy is praying that the Lord, the One who is willing and able, will reward us according to the riches of His grace? All I know is there must be a big blessing coming because grace is big and riches are untold and our God answers prayer and is pleased to give us the Kingdom.
There are no impossibilities friends.
The end is only the beginning of brand new. Sure, the old has gone. But LOOK! The new has come. Why stand there looking for the living among the dead?
He is risen and life is certain and He has promised.
We won’t stop believing.
