This week, Christin shared a post with us that included a video by a popular beauty company. Women were asked to walk through one of two doors – one labeled Beautiful, the other labeled Average. It was so interesting to watch as each woman decided which door to pass through.
Christin went on to tell the story of the crippled man who sat by the temple gate called Beautiful. He sat there and begged each day, simply trying to survive. You’re probably familiar with the story – eventually Peter and John stopped by where the man sat. The beggar was hopeful for some money, even just enough for his next meal. Peter looked right at the man. He told him that they didn’t have what the man wanted – they didn’t have silver and gold to give him.
But they had something better for the crippled man:
“Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” -Acts 3:6
Christin writes, “Before we met Jesus, we also lived a life of bondage, crippled by shame and guilt. But Jesus strengthened our feeble ankles and gave us a firm place to stand.”
We’re faced with two gates:
The average gate that leads to defeat, to shame and condemnation.
The beautiful gate that leads to freedom, to eternal life.
Which one will you choose?
Head over to read the rest of Christin’s post this week for some wonderful encouragement and for the reminder of the gate that leads to freedom!
