After last week’s internet issue (thanks to Rebecca for saving the day!) I’m glad to be back in the saddle this week!
And wow, what inspiration I found reading the posts shared last week! I was exhorted by brothers and sisters to dive deeper into God’s word, to focus on what really matters, and turn a deaf ear to the noise the world throws at us.
This blog has grown tremendously over the last year. We went from around 2,000 subscribers to 10,000 and while I am thankful the Lord is working beyond my imagination (and definitely beyond my skill set, lol!) I increasingly face temptations. More and more, I am faced with temptations to fill my time with mere noise, busy work, keeping people happy, and other shiny distractions…even good things of value and great opportunities.
This community reminded me that it’s okay to “lose” in order to gain.
Lisa wrote, “Reading blog posts is great. Listening to your pastor is wonderful. Reading Christian books is also great. But praying, reading, and studying the word on your own is invaluable.” To help others dive into the word, Lisa prepared a Bible Study guide for the book of Romans she’s offering free!
You know, we become reflections of what we gaze at, where we spend our time, and how we fill our minds.
If you or I want the word of Christ be what dwells in us richly, it’s imperative we neglect a plethora of other things. It’s a lie that says we need to do all this “stuff,” be on social media all the time, and (fill in the blank) to be successful, fulfilled, or valuable.
Truth is, Jesus is enough and no one who ever placed their trust in Him and filled up on Him has ever been disappointed.
As Jamie shares, He is able to create something from nothing. Aint nuttin’ out there that can do that.
So let’s be a people this year who commit to filling up on Jesus. Let’s be rich in the word. Let’s ooze the gospel. And let’s encourage and exhort each other in this as a lifestyle, shall we?
After all, we’re Jesus freaks.
