Some time ago, a status update scrolled across my Facebook feed from a mom who was about to lose her child.
She was heartbroken, in shock, and in desperate need of a prayer covering. This mom shared she had just received a court summons in the mail.
Her daughter’s biological father, who hadn’t seen her since she was two or three years old, had filed for sole custody.
What do you do when the unthinkable happens? Who do you trust? Do you trust the court system to figure out what’s best? Or is there Someone else at work who you can trust?
Thing is, even though God is Sovereign and God is good, He isn’t safe. This is the God who allowed His very own beloved Son to leave heaven in order to be sacrificed and murdered at the hands of wicked men. I mean, trusting yourself… and your kids… to a God like that doesn’t guarantee you a safe, healthy, wealthy, pain-free life.
Sometimes Christians hold onto fake, empty promises that God’s word does not actually promise.
What does it promise? What does a good, sovereign God guarantee if it isn’t a healthy, wealthy, trouble free life?
Well Cheryl, the mom of the girl she had to let go of, shares her story and how God has been with her each step of the way in this week’s featured post. She will share more of their story on Monday so be sure to visit her blog early next week as well.
Let’s lift this family in prayer this weekend, friends? And let’s stir one another on to trust in a Good God, even when…no, especially when… it isn’t safe. Because in the end, HE WINS.
