Meet Arabah

 ~Welcome to the Arabah~

Hello friend, I’m truly honored to meet you and hope you’ll introduce yourself to me as well?

What we see as worthless and forlorn, God sees as a canvas, a backdrop on which to display His glory. We don’t have to run from our dry, barren places… because it isn’t about us anyway.

God has chosen the weak, the foolish, the base, the small things of this world. I qualify.

This blog is based on a passage buried deep in Isaiah 35, a description of my life and perhaps yours too:

“Even the wilderness and desert will be glad in those days.     The wasteland (the Arabah) will rejoice and blossom with spring crocuses. Yes, there will be an abundance of flowers and singing and joy! The deserts will become as green as the mountains of Lebanon, as lovely as Mount Carmel or the plain of Sharon. There the Lord will display His glory, the splendor of our God.”

Isaiah 35:1-2

I blog here to showcase the glory and splendor of our God as revealed in the transformation of the desert.

Here’s the short version of the person behind this little blog:

Nearly two decades ago, I married a strong man who was headed into the FBI. God had a different course for our lives though, and instead of packing off to Virginia, we packed off to seminary!

While Jackson was in seminary and I was working as a CPA, God called my husband and I to plant a church. It changed our lives. It was through that church planting experience that God called us to overseas missions, something neither of us had ever considered before. So in 2002, we packed off again, this time to the other side of the world.

All four of our children were born overseas {each in a different country!} and we have moved more times than I can count. We’ve adopted internationally, we’ve struggled, we’ve questioned our faith. And we’ve discovered more about God than I ever would have imagined…and not ever nearly enough.

It’s a crazy dream, I know, but I hope to somehow show my readers the glory of Christ. It’s all for Him.

For Him.
