5 Verses to Grow On in 2017

Grace.

Many of us think of grace as forgiveness only, a divine get-out-of-jail-free card. We fail to understand grace is also our go-to resource for divine enablement.

Scripture describes grace as the power of God (see I Corinthians 15:10) and Peter instructs us to “grow in grace.”

In other words? Grace = Growth.

Take a quick meander with me to see what I mean:

Do you long to grow spiritually in 2017? God has a provision for spiritual growth and these verses will equip you to appropriate that provision!

For the grace of God has appeared… training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age.”

Titus 2:11-12

“And in this regard we pray for you always, that our God will make you worthy of his calling and fulfill by his power your every desire for goodness and every work of faith, that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.”

II Thessalonians 1:11-12

“For it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by foods, which have not benefited those devoted to them.”

Hebrews 13:9b

“And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed.”

II Corinthians 9:8

“But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

II Corinthians 12:9

Far more than forgiveness, grace is power. But do we appropriate it? Do we know how to practically convert it to power the engine of our lives? Do we know how to access grace in meaningful ways?

God has a path for goal setting and lasting change… and God has the provision too. Anything less than tapping into God’s provision of grace is sort of like plugging yourself up to a battery… when you have the power plant of the Creator of the Universe who raised Christ Jesus from the dead at your disposal!
